Welcome to the website of the Cartography Laboratory, which continues the research and teaching of cartography initiated at the University of Warsaw in 1950. The Cartography Laboratory is part of the Department of Geoinformatics, Cartography and Remote Sensing at the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies of the University of Warsaw.  

Our research interests focus on both practical and theoretical aspects of spatial data analysis and visualization, often in connection with other research fields such as computer science, historical geography, psychology, and geodesy. In our research and teaching, we deal with both thematic cartography and general geographic maps, including topographic maps.
